GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Coach Billy Napier announced during his weekly radio show that Florida quarterback DJ Lagway is now “ready to play.”
Lagway has been taken off the team’s injury list and is expected to start in the upcoming game against No. 21 LSU at home on Saturday.
Throughout the week, Lagway participated in practices as he rehabbed from a strained left hamstring sustained during the match against Georgia on November 2. Initially, there were concerns about the severity of his injury; however, medical tests indicated it was less serious than first thought, allowing him to make a timely return to action for the game against the Tigers.
The Gators, sporting a 4-5 record and a 2-4 mark in the Southeastern Conference, greatly need his presence on the field. To achieve bowl eligibility, they must secure victories in two of their final three games.
LSU, with a current record of 6-3 and 3-2 in conference play, has had difficulties defending against dual-threat quarterbacks. Their recent game against Alabama highlighted this challenge, as they allowed Jalen Milroe to amass 185 rushing yards and score four touchdowns.
