HARTFORD, Conn. — In a decisive victory on Wednesday evening, the No. 3 ranked UConn Huskies overcame Le Moyne with a commanding score of 90-49. Alex Karaban was instrumental in the game, contributing 11 of his total 17 points in the first half.

Liam McNeeley also made a significant impact, adding 15 points to the scoreboard for the two-time defending national champions, now boasting a record of 3-0. In the second half, Solo Ball showcased his skills by scoring all of his 12 points. Additionally, Tarris Reed Jr. recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Hassan Diarra finished with 10 points and six assists.

For Le Moyne, who now stands at 1-3, Dwayne Koroma was the leading scorer with 13 points and five rebounds, while Fred Bagatskis contributed 11 points.

Observations from the game showed that Le Moyne is continuing its adjustments in its second season at the Division I level. They previously led Syracuse at halftime before ultimately losing 86-82, and they managed to keep a slim lead over UConn early in this match.

Despite being the most seasoned guard on the squad, Hassan Diarra remains a critical player coming off the bench for UConn. His timely baskets were pivotal in a stretch where the Huskies found scoring challenging. He also played a vital role just before halftime, draining a 3-pointer and assisting rookie Jaylin Stewart on a crucial layup at the buzzer, enabling UConn to enter halftime with a significant 38-19 advantage.

A highlight of the game occurred when UConn, having a difficult time with their perimeter shooting, was leading by a mere 21-16. At that point, Alex Karaban and Liam McNeeley hit back-to-back 3-pointers, pushing the Huskies into their first double-digit lead of the match.

On a notable statistic, UConn’s offensive prowess has been impressive, scoring at least 90 points in each of their first three games—a feat last achieved during the 1994-95 season.

Looking ahead, UConn is set to face East Texas A&M on Tuesday night, marking their fourth consecutive home game to start the season. Le Moyne, on the other hand, will travel to St. Bonaventure for their next match this Saturday.
