MARTIN, Tenn. — The University of Louisville women’s basketball team, ranked No. 18, showcased a well-rounded performance on Tuesday evening, overpowering UT Martin with a score of 86-64. Nyla Harris was the standout player for the Cardinals, tallying 16 points while shooting an impressive 6-of-8 from the field.
The Cardinals maintained a strong shooting percentage throughout the game, finishing at 57% (31 of 54), with an even more impressive second half where they shot 71% (17 of 24). Despite struggling with their three-point shooting, converting just 4 of 14 attempts, the overall offensive effort proved too much for their opponents.
In addition to Harris’s performance, Olivia Cochran contributed significantly with 14 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. The team also saw Tajian Roberts chip in with 13 points and Imari Barry add 10 points along with nine rebounds. In total, the Cardinals had a productive night with 12 out of 13 players scoring and all registering at least one rebound.
The Skyhawks, still searching for their first win of the season, were led by Kenley McCarn, who grabbed 21 points, while Anaya Brown and Shae Littleford supported the effort with 12 and 11 points, respectively. However, UT Martin struggled overall, shooting only 30% from the field and a dismal 17% in the first half.
Louisville started the game strong, establishing an early 25-11 lead with a pivotal 10-0 run in the first quarter. They continued to assert their dominance with a remarkable 17-0 run in the second quarter, heading into halftime with a commanding 44-20 advantage. Even as Louisville encountered difficulties, committing 15 turnovers, UT Martin found momentum in the second half, managing to score 44 points but ultimately falling short.
