LEXINGTON, Ky. — The governing body for horse racing has introduced an innovative digital tool aimed at enhancing the oversight provided by regulatory veterinarians. This new system is designed to offer a comprehensive perspective on a horse’s overall health and performance, incorporating detailed information from its entire racing and medical history.

The tool, known as Horse In-Sight, was unveiled on Tuesday by the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA). It features a graphical representation that tracks a horse’s career, illustrating performance data through high-speed furlong times across various events, including races, workouts, and any withdrawals. Additionally, it allows users to filter information based on treatment types, injury outcomes, and a horse’s status on veterinary lists. The innovative Race Day tab provides a comparative analysis of multiple horses, granting insights into their injuries and any administered injections.

According to HISA, the introduction of In-Sight builds upon existing data strategies, equipping stakeholders with tools to identify horses that may be prone to injuries prior to participating in races. The platform is designed to assist regulatory veterinarians in making well-informed, prompt decisions that prioritize the health and welfare of the horses throughout the racing season.

HISA’s CEO, Lisa Lazarus, praised the new technology as a “significant leap forward” in the field of equine safety and care. She emphasized that the development underscores the authority’s dedication to advancing innovation in horse racing.
