WASHINGTON — In a non-conference matchup held at Burr Gymnasium on Monday, Marcus Dockery shone for the Howard Bison, scoring 23 points in a decisive 91-73 victory over the Dillard Blue Devils.
After suffering two losses on the road to open their season, Howard (1-2) managed to turn things around against the NAIA team Dillard (3-1), establishing control early in the game. The Bison built a solid 52-34 lead by halftime and continued to dominate into the second half. Howard showcased their toughness on the boards, out-rebounding Dillard with a total of 45 rebounds compared to 36.
Dillard’s performance was highlighted by Bentravin Phillips, who came off the bench to score 18 points and dish out 2 assists. However, the Blue Devils faced challenges in their shooting accuracy, managing to hit just over 36 percent of their attempts from the field.
