Detroit Mercy triumphed over Niagara with a thrilling overtime victory, finishing 84-78 on Sunday, thanks in large part to Mak Manciel’s standout performance, where he netted 30 points.
Manciel also contributed significantly on the boards, pulling down eight rebounds for the Titans, who improved their record to 2-1.
The game took a decisive turn in overtime, starting with Manciel sinking a jumper, which propelled Detroit Mercy to a flawless 8-for-8 performance from the free-throw line in the extra period, with Manciel hitting four of those.
Legend Geeter supported the Titans with a solid performance, contributing 14 points by shooting 3-for-5 from the field and remaining perfect at the free-throw line, going 8-for-8.
Emmanuel Kuac added 12 points to the scoreboard, shooting 4-for-11 overall, including a single three-pointer from three attempts, and hitting 3-out-of-5 from the charity stripe.
On the opposing side, Olumide Adelodun led the effort for the Purple Eagles, totaling 20 points alongside two steals.
Justice Smith was also a key player for Niagara, contributing 17 points, while Jaeden Marshall had a well-rounded game, finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds, and three steals.
The contest saw Jared Lary hit a critical jumper with just 31 seconds left in regulation, which allowed the Titans to tie the game at 72 and force the overtime period.
