PROVIDENCE, R.I. — In an impressive display of skill, Jabri Abdur-Rahim played a pivotal role in Providence’s 76-49 triumph over Stonehill on Saturday night, finishing with 16 points.
Abdur-Rahim also contributed significantly on the boards, securing six rebounds for the Friars, who improved their record to 2-0. Wesley Cardet Jr. supported the team by adding 12 points along with eight rebounds of his own.
On the other side, the Skyhawks, now at 1-2, found their offensive leader in Amir Nesbitt, who scored 12 points and provided five assists. Chas Stinson also contributed to the team’s efforts with 10 points and a pair of steals.
Providence claimed the lead with 12:24 remaining in the first half and never looked back. By halftime, the Friars had built a commanding 44-25 advantage, with Abdur-Rahim emerging as a standout scoring contributor, having netted 14 points by the break.
The Friars further widened their margin with a decisive 9-0 run early in the second half, pushing their lead to 22 points. Christ Essandoko showcased his prowess during this period, leading the team in the second half with a total of eight points.
