STONY BROOK, N.Y. — In a decisive performance on Saturday, Tyler Knoop threw for 229 yards and one touchdown, while Roland Dempster rushed for 98 yards and scored twice, leading Stony Brook to a 24-6 victory over Albany. This win marks Stony Brook’s fourth consecutive triumph.

Currently positioned at 8-2 overall and sporting a 5-1 record in the Coastal Athletic Association, Stony Brook stands out as the team with the most significant improvement after an unsuccessful 2023 season. Under the guidance of first-year head coach Billy Cosh, the team has dramatically transformed from a 0-10 record last year to their current winning streak.

The scoring for Stony Brook began early in the game, as Dempster crossed the end zone with a 2-yard touchdown following a meticulous 10-play, 80-yard opening drive. He later concluded the game with a 4-yard touchdown run, capping a 33-yard drive with just 2:41 remaining in the fourth quarter.

In a noteworthy drive that began before the fourth quarter, Stony Brook achieved a 90-yard advance, culminating in Knoop’s 20-yard touchdown pass to Jayce Freeman. Additionally, Enda Kirby contributed to the score by successfully kicking a 41-yard field goal.

For Albany, quarterback Van Weber completed 20 of his 32 attempts for a total of 201 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, as the team faced its fourth consecutive loss. Caden Burti provided some highlight for Albany with a 23-yard touchdown reception.
