— Pjay Smith Jr. delivered a dramatic finish for Furman, hitting a crucial 3-pointer with just 2.3 seconds remaining, securing a thrilling 76-74 victory over Belmont on Friday night.
Smith’s performance was stellar, with the junior guard scoring a total of 21 points, while also contributing five rebounds and five assists for his team, which improved to 2-0 for the season.
In addition to Smith’s scoring, Nick Anderson played a significant role, netting 17 points with an impressive shooting percentage, going 6 for 9 from the floor and hitting 5 of 7 attempts from 3-point range. Garrett Hien added 15 points, with a shooting line of 6 for 11, including 3 for 6 from beyond the arc.
For the Bruins, who now hold a record of 1-1, Brody Peebles stood out with a remarkable performance, scoring 26 points. Additionally, Carter Whitt contributed to the team’s efforts with 14 points and two steals.
