Johnston tallies 31 points as High Point overwhelms Coppin State 93-51

HIGH POINT, N.C. — In an impressive performance on Wednesday night, Chase Johnston scored a remarkable 31 points, leading the High Point Panthers to a commanding 93-51 victory over Coppin State.

Johnston’s shooting was particularly noteworthy, as he made 11 of his 13 attempts, including a stellar 9 for 11 from three-point range, helping the Panthers (1-0) secure the win.

Kezza Giffa also contributed significantly, scoring 16 points. Giffa shot 3 for 7 from the field, with 2 for 5 from beyond the arc, and was effective at the free-throw line, converting 8 of 11 attempts. He rounded out his performance with five rebounds, showcasing his all-around skills.

D’Maurian Williams added another 11 points for the Panthers, achieving a shooting percentage of 62.5% by going 5 for 8.

On the other side, Khali Horton led the way for the Eagles (0-2), contributing 11 points. Derrius Ward chipped in with nine points, while Peter Oduro finished with eight points, but the team struggled against the Panthers’ offensive onslaught.
