MADRID — The ongoing severe flooding in the Valencia region has led to the postponement of yet another football match in the Spanish league.
On Wednesday, officials from the Spanish league announced that the scheduled game between Valencia and Espanyol, which was set to take place on Saturday, has been canceled due to the impact of the recent floods. The situation has also affected the second-division match between Tenerife and Levante, resulting in that game being postponed as well.
Prior to this, Valencia’s home match against Real Madrid last Saturday was already postponed. Similarly, Villarreal’s fixture against Rayo Vallecano was called off, along with several second-division matches that were supposed to be played that weekend.
Additionally, the Copa del Rey match for Valencia, which was slated for last week, has also been deferred to a later date. The natural disaster has had a profound impact on the area, with over 200 lives lost due to the devastating flash floods that occurred on October 29.
These circumstances have created considerable disruption not only for the clubs involved but also for fans and local communities dealing with the aftermath of the flooding.
