On Wednesday, Republican Representative Bill Huizenga secured reelection for his U.S. House seat, representing the state of Michigan.
Having first entered the House in 2010, he has established himself in the political arena.
Huizenga successfully defeated Democratic challenger Jessica Swartz in a district that leans heavily Republican, specifically in the southwestern part of Michigan, including the city of Kalamazoo.
In his role, he serves as the chair of the Oversight and Investigations subcommittee within the House Financial Services Committee, which is responsible for the regulation of banking practices.
Additionally, he co-chairs the bipartisan Great Lakes Task Force, which focuses on key environmental issues affecting the Great Lakes region.
The announcement of Huizenga’s victory was made at 1:50 a.m. EST.
