Democratic Representative Teresa Leger Fernández has secured reelection for a U.S. House seat in New Mexico as of Wednesday morning.
Throughout her time in office, Leger Fernández has been a staunch advocate for the Biden administration to take decisive action in supporting wildfire recovery efforts in areas affected by catastrophic prescribed burns, which led to the largest wildfire recorded in the state.
Additionally, she has pushed for comprehensive funding of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Disaster Relief Fund to aid affected communities.
In the race for the 3rd District seat, which encompasses northern New Mexico, Leger Fernández emerged victorious against Republican challenger Sharon Clahchischilliage, a former state lawmaker of Navajo descent.
