Republican Senator Josh Hawley has secured a second term in the U.S. Senate, representing the state of Missouri.
On Tuesday, Hawley triumphed over Democratic challenger Lucas Kunce, who has a background as a lawyer and served 13 years in the Marine Corps.
The campaign prominently featured discussions surrounding Hawley’s actions during the events of January 6, 2021, when he was seen defiantly raising his fist to supporters of then-President Donald Trump outside the U.S. Capitol.
Additionally, abortion rights emerged as a significant topic, as Missouri voters evaluated a measure intended to secure those rights.
The announcement of Hawley’s victory was made at 10:28 p.m. EST, solidifying his position in the Senate for another term.
