Republican Pat Harrigan has emerged victorious in the election for a U.S. House seat from North Carolina, as announced on Tuesday.
A distinguished graduate of West Point and a former Green Beret, Harrigan has served in Afghanistan and transitioned into a role as a manufacturer of defense products.
His election comes as he fills the shoes of long-serving GOP Rep. Patrick McHenry, who opted not to run for reelection this year in the 10th Congressional District.
In a competitive race, Harrigan bested candidates from the Democratic, Libertarian, and Constitution parties to claim representation for a district that is heavily Republican.
This district encompasses areas of Winston-Salem and extends southwest towards the suburbs of Charlotte.
Harrigan previously ran for a congressional seat in 2022 but was defeated by Democrat Jeff Jackson.
The election result was reported by media outlets at 9:35 p.m. EST, confirming Harrigan’s victory.
