Republican Representative Tim Burchett has successfully retained his U.S. House seat for Tennessee following Tuesday’s election.
Burchett has claimed victory for a fourth consecutive term representing Tennessee’s 2nd District, which includes seven counties located in eastern Tennessee.
In the race, he faced off against Democrat Jane George and emerged victorious.
Notably, Burchett was one of the eight Republicans who took the initiative to remove Kevin McCarthy from his position as House speaker last year.
Before assuming his current role, Burchett held the position of mayor in Knox County and also had a stint as a state legislator.
In addition to his political career, he is known for founding a business that transforms grass waste into mulch and compost, as well as managing a truck and trailer operation.
Burchett’s victory was confirmed at 8:57 p.m. EST, as reported by initial election results.
