PARIS — France’s national rugby team has announced that lock Joshua Brennan and prop Régis Montagne will not participate in the upcoming match against Japan due to injuries. This information was disclosed by the national rugby federation on Monday.

To fill their spots in coach Fabien Galthié’s squad of 42 players, newcomers Killian Tixeront and Uini Atonio have been brought in.

In addition to Japan, France is scheduled to compete against New Zealand and Argentina this month. Brennan, just 22 years old, was one of eight uncapped players selected by Galthié in preparation for these three matches. The lock, who hails from Toulouse, is the son of former Ireland international Trevor Brennan and has previously represented the U20 France team, even serving as captain for all youth selections.

Initially, Atonio had been excluded from the lineup for Saturday’s matchup against Japan to ensure he is entirely prepared for the game against New Zealand.
