BOSTON — Jeremy Swayman delivered an impressive performance with 23 saves, securing his first shutout of the season as the Boston Bruins claimed a 2-0 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Sunday night.
Justin Brazeau opened the scoring just 3:23 into the match, netting a tip-in goal from a pass by Nikita Zadorov. Charlie Coyle followed suit less than seven minutes later, finding the back of the net with an easy shot in front of Kraken goalie Joey Daccord.
Charlie McAvoy provided the secondary assist on Brazeau’s goal, while Brad Marchand and Elias Lindholm assisted in the play leading to Coyle’s goal.
Daccord faced a tough night, totaling 31 saves, but ultimately could not prevent his team from falling short.
In terms of performance metrics, the Bruins showcased dominance, outshooting the Kraken 15-3 in the first period, while also enjoying three power-play opportunities, compared to Seattle’s one.
The Kraken faced a challenging weekend, suffering their second consecutive shutout loss. They had previously fallen 3-0 to Ottawa on Saturday, resulting in six losses out of the last seven games they’ve played.
A pivotal moment in the game occurred when Zadorov’s pass led to Brazeau’s early goal, setting the tone and providing momentum for the Bruins.
In an interesting statistic, Brazeau has managed to score in four of his last six games, showcasing his growing contribution to the team.
Looking ahead, the Kraken will face the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday as they wrap up a demanding five-game road trip. The Bruins will also be in action the same day, taking on the Maple Leafs.
