HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — In a thrilling contest on Saturday, Czavian Teasett led Southern to a close victory over Alabama A&M with a last-minute touchdown pass, bringing the final score to 25-20. Teasett threw two touchdown passes to receiver Darren Morris, alongside another crucial pass to Dupree Fuller with just over a minute left in the game. 

Alabama A&M briefly took the lead with an 8-yard touchdown run from Xavier Lankford, making the score 20-19 with 3:42 remaining. However, the Jaguars quickly regrouped, executing a solid ten-play, 75-yard drive that included a pivotal 21-yard completion from Teasett to Morris on a key third-and-10 play, ultimately ending with Teasett’s touchdown pass to Fuller. 

Teasett had an impressive day, completing 24 of 37 passes for a total of 294 yards, in addition to rushing for 57 yards on six attempts for Southern, which improved its record to 5-4 overall and 4-1 within the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Morris was a vital contributor, finishing the game with five receptions for 96 yards, while Fuller added four catches for 70 yards. 

The game began with Alabama A&M taking an early 10-0 advantage, thanks to a 21-yard field goal from Victor Barbosa, which capped an 11-play drive that consumed over five minutes of the first quarter. Southern responded late in the first half when Teasett connected with Morris for an 11-yard touchdown pass; however, the subsequent PAT by Joshua Griffin was unsuccessful. 

In the second half, Teasett connected with Morris for a 36-yard touchdown, part of a seven-play, 99-yard drive that granted Southern its first lead of the game at 16-10 with 8:29 left in the third quarter. Griffin later added a 35-yard field goal just before halftime, closing the gap to 10-9, and followed it up with a 32-yard field goal late in the third, providing Southern with a 19-10 advantage heading into the final quarter. 

Alabama A&M attempted a comeback in the fourth with Barbosa hitting a 39-yard field goal, narrowing the gap to 19-13. Lankford finished the game with a respectable performance, completing 15 of 32 passes for 169 yards and an interception, along with leading the ground game with 93 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.
