Lehigh Dominates Georgetown with a 43-6 Victory
WASHINGTON — The Lehigh Mountain Hawks showcased a dominant performance on Saturday, overwhelming the Georgetown Hoyas with a decisive score of 43-6. Jaden Green was a standout player for Lehigh, recording two rushing touchdowns, while Jordan Adderley made a significant impact by returning an interception 45 yards for a touchdown.
The Mountain Hawks, now sitting at a record of 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the Patriot League, demonstrated their strength on the ground, accumulating a total of 310 rushing yards. Green led the team with 88 rushing yards, closely followed by Hayden Johnson who added 83 yards. Johnson also contributed in the passing game, completing 4 of 8 passes for an additional 75 yards.
Green’s impressive touchdowns, one from 24 yards and the other from 43 yards, allowed Lehigh to build a substantial 24-0 lead by halftime. The defense continued to shine in the third quarter, with Adderley’s interception return extending the lead to 31-0 early in the second half. The scoring was capped off late in the fourth quarter with a 20-yard touchdown run by Connor Hiling. Additionally, Lehigh capitalized on a safety when Georgetown’s Danny Lauter was penalized for intentional grounding while attempting to throw from the end zone.
Georgetown’s offense struggled throughout the game. Quarterback Danny Lauter completed 22 of 37 passes for 189 yards, along with one touchdown and two interceptions. The Hoyas’ lone score came from a 5-yard touchdown pass from Lauter to Max McCormick.
With this victory, Lehigh has now taken over the second spot in the Patriot League, placing them one game behind Holy Cross, who did not compete on Saturday. Next week, Lehigh will face off against Holy Cross in what promises to be a pivotal matchup in the race for the Patriot League title.
