CLEVELAND — The Browns have announced that linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will be sidelined for a minimum of four games after being placed on injured reserve due to a neck injury he sustained during a recent match.

Owusu-Koramoah, who has been the leading tackler for Cleveland, was forcefully taken down in the third quarter while attempting to tackle Ravens running back Derrick Henry. Following the incident, he needed to be stabilized and was carted off the playing field, ultimately spending the night in the hospital for observation.

This week, he was seen at the team’s facility, and head coach Kevin Stefanski provided an update, noting that Owusu-Koramoah, who is about to celebrate his 25th birthday, is recovering well. Nonetheless, with his placement on the injured reserve list, he will miss at least the next four games, with the possibility of an extended absence.

Owusu-Koramoah has been a significant asset to the team since being drafted in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft. This season, he has recorded 61 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss, along with three sacks and the sole interception by the Browns this year.

In a more positive development for the team heading into their upcoming clash against the Los Angeles Chargers, cornerback Denzel Ward has been cleared to return from concussion protocols. Ward, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, experienced his sixth diagnosed concussion last week, but returned to practice on Friday without any restrictions regarding injuries.

This news provides a boost for the Browns (2-6) as they prepare to face the Chargers (4-3) on Sunday.
