WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army’s starting quarterback Bryson Daily was unable to participate in the service-academy matchup against Air Force due to an unspecified injury or illness.

Details regarding Daily’s condition were not disclosed by Army Athletics ahead of the game.

Daily has been instrumental in leading Army to an impressive 7-0 start to the season, securing a spot at No. 21 in national rankings.

He has served as the team’s starting quarterback for two years and entered the week as the top player in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) with 19 rushing touchdowns.

In light of Daily’s absence, junior Dewayne Coleman was set to take over as the starting quarterback for the Black Knights.

So far this season, Coleman has played in five games, recording 94 rushing yards and a touchdown, along with 73 passing yards and another score.

Daily, who boasts a team-leading 909 rushing yards, earned recognition as the Manning Award quarterback of the week after a standout performance in the previous game, where he scored five rushing touchdowns during a 45-28 victory over East Carolina.
