Magnussen out of Brazil race due to illness, Bearman steps in as substitute driver

SAO PAULO — Kevin Magnussen is currently facing health issues and will not be participating in the Haas team’s activities for the Brazilian Grand Prix, which includes the free practice sessions on Friday and the sprint race on Saturday.

In his place, the 19-year-old Oliver Bearman has stepped in as a replacement.

The Haas team did not provide specific details regarding Magnussen’s condition in their brief announcement.

“The team extends its best wishes to Kevin for a swift recovery and will share more updates as they become available,” the statement read.

Oliver Bearman, a British racing talent, is set to make his second appearance with the Haas team, having previously filled in for Magnussen during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in September, where he managed to earn a point.

Competing at Interlagos, Bearman completed the opening practice session on Friday with an impressive third-fastest lap, coming in behind Lando Norris from McLaren and George Russell from Mercedes.

Bearman is also confirmed to race for Haas in the 2025 season.
