NEW YORK – An individual lost his life after a stabbing incident occurred in a New York City subway station during the night, according to authorities.

The 54-year-old victim was discovered with a stab wound to his back at the Coney Island Stillwell Avenue station in Brooklyn shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Following the incident, he was transported to a local hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

Details about the victim have not been released as authorities continue their investigation, and no arrests have been reported at this time.

Concerns regarding the safety of the city’s public transportation system have persisted throughout the mayorship of Eric Adams, a Democrat. Nonetheless, city officials highlight statistics indicating that serious crimes within the subway system have decreased in 2024 compared to previous years.

The Coney Island station serves as a transit point for beachgoers during the summer months, providing access to the boardwalk and attractions such as the famous Cyclone roller coaster.
