Stephen Curry is set to be sidelined for at least the next two games while he recovers from an ankle injury sustained during the Golden State Warriors’ recent loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Following an MRI conducted after the game, it was confirmed that Curry has suffered a left peroneal strain, but fortunately, there are no structural damages to his ankle. The Warriors have announced that they will reevaluate his condition on Friday.
The upcoming schedule for the Warriors includes two home games against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Curry’s next assessment due before their match on Saturday against the Houston Rockets. Curry had to exit the game permanently with 7:55 left on the clock during a 112-104 loss.
Before his exit, Curry had made a brief return to the game, but as he attempted to navigate the court near the baseline, he appeared to roll his ankle. This incident occurred while he was being guarded by Kris Dunn, prompting him to limp off towards the locker room. Earlier in the third quarter, at the 2:43 mark, he had shown signs of discomfort and remained on the bench for the rest of that period.
In the game against the Clippers, the two-time MVP and NBA’s all-time leader in 3-point baskets contributed 18 points, six assists, and four rebounds, completing 6 of 11 shots, including four successful 3-pointers. At 36 years old, Curry is embarking on his 16th season in the NBA and has a history of dealing with recurring ankle issues over the years.
In related news on Monday, the Warriors also reported that guard De’Anthony Melton underwent an MRI for a strained lower back after the same game and, like Curry, he found out that there is no structural damage. Melton will also be reevaluated on Friday.
