TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Missouri’s quarterback Brady Cook took the field as the starter for the Tigers, despite facing uncertainty over an ankle injury that put him in a game-time decision category.
Cook had been classified as questionable in the Southeastern Conference’s availability updates until just 90 minutes before the kickoff, raising questions about his readiness for the matchup.
The injury occurred during the initial drive against Auburn last week, but Cook managed to return late in the third quarter after undergoing an MRI. He played a crucial role in a thrilling 21-17 comeback victory, throwing for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
In the limited time he played, Cook recorded 194 passing yards despite being on the field for less than two complete quarters.
In his absence, Drew Pyne stepped in but struggled, completing 10 passes out of 21 attempts for a total of 78 yards.
Before facing Alabama, Cook had an impressive season so far, boasting a completion rate of 63.1% with 1,545 passing yards and tallying seven touchdowns alongside just one interception.
Additionally, it was noted that Alabama safety Keon Sabb was unavailable for the game due to an injury to his lower extremity.
The season continues to unfold, with teams keeping a close watch on injury reports and player performance as they aim for the top.
