CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bryce Young is set to take the lead as the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers this Sunday in their matchup against the Denver Broncos. This decision comes after Andy Dalton sustained a thumb injury on his right throwing hand due to a car accident that occurred in Charlotte.

The announcement was made by Panthers coach Dave Canales on Wednesday following the team’s practice session. Dalton was unable to participate in practice due to his injury.

Canales confirmed that the accident, which took place on Tuesday, did not result in any serious injuries, and stated that the 36-year-old Dalton would be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. There is a possibility that he could still serve as the backup quarterback during the upcoming game.

Further details revealed that Dalton was behind the wheel when the incident happened. Fortunately, his wife and three children were also in the vehicle but thankfully emerged unscathed.

Young, who was removed from the starting lineup just two games into the season following a disappointing start with two losses, is now looking to lead the team. Dalton has stepped in as the starter but has struggled, registering a record of 1-4 in his appearances, including four consecutive losses in his most recent outings.
