The Chicago Red Stars are set to undergo a rebranding, announcing a new name and logo for the upcoming season. The team, which competes in the National Women’s Soccer League, will officially change its name to the Chicago Stars Football Club after the current season concludes.
However, for the remainder of this season and the duration of the playoffs, the team will continue to use the Red Stars name and emblem. This transition reflects a desire to evolve the club’s identity as it heads into a new chapter.
“Guided by the ownership group led by Laura Ricketts and the leadership team, we recognize that it’s time to redefine our identity,” said team president Karen Leetzow in an official statement. “We are committed to honoring the legacy established by previous players, supporters, and those affiliated with the club, while also forging a new direction that authentically represents Chicago both on and off the field.”
Since its inception in 2009, the franchise has been known as the Red Stars. Currently, the team has secured a playoff position and is ranked sixth in the league standings, boasting 32 points with a record of 10 wins, 13 losses, and 2 draws. Notably, the Red Stars set an NWSL attendance record in June, drawing an impressive crowd of 35,038 for a match held at Wrigley Field.
