BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — AIG, a global insurance leader, has revealed its plan to establish a new “innovation hub” in the Atlanta suburb of Brookhaven, which will involve the addition of 600 positions over the course of five years.
The New York-based American International Group will consolidate existing operations from two other offices in the Atlanta vicinity into a more extensive facility close to Perimeter Mall, effectively tripling the amount of office space it leases.
The motive behind the move to Atlanta is to harness a skilled workforce that can enhance the company’s digital and artificial intelligence initiatives. Positions being offered include insurance underwriters, claims handlers, as well as data engineers and AI experts.
Although specifics about salary averages remain undisclosed, AIG is actively recruiting for some of these roles, with the new office scheduled to commence operations in 2026.
This initiative follows a trend, as multiple firms have also unveiled plans for innovation centers in the greater Atlanta region in recent weeks.
In terms of financial incentives, AIG may be eligible for up to $5.25 million in state income tax credits, calculated at $1,750 per job over a five-year period, provided that the average salary for the positions is at least $35,600 annually. According to AIG’s Executive Vice President, Claude Wade, the company did not receive any special incentives beyond those available to any qualifying business under existing laws.
