76ers announce Embiid and George will miss season opener due to injuries

The Philadelphia 76ers will open their season without two of their star players, as All-Stars Joel Embiid and Paul George will not take the court for the matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. Their absences are due to injuries, and it remains uncertain how long they will be sidelined.

Paul George was expected to make his debut with the 76ers after signing a lucrative four-year contract worth $212 million as a free agent this summer. Unfortunately, he is dealing with a bone bruise resulting from a hyperextended left knee sustained during a recent preseason game. Importantly, there were no structural injuries reported.

As for George’s potential return, the team has not disclosed how many further games he might miss. The situation will be assessed later in the week to provide updates on his condition.

On the other hand, Joel Embiid did not participate in any preseason games due to discomfort in his left knee. The 76ers have indicated that Embiid is making good progress in his rehabilitation and is set to participate in practices later this week. Sadly, he will also be unavailable for the upcoming game against Toronto on Friday, and a reevaluation is planned for this weekend.
