San Francisco has made significant changes to its coaching staff as the Giants have announced the promotion of J.P. Martinez to the position of pitching coach.
This decision came on Friday, following the departure of Bryan Price, who resigned after just one season in the role.
Martinez, aged 42, has been with the Giants as the assistant pitching coach for the last four years.
During his time in this role, he has contributed to the team’s success in pitching, which ranks fourth in the National League with an impressive earned run average (ERA) of 3.80.
Before his tenure with the Giants, Martinez spent six years with the Minnesota Twins, where he held various positions, including that of assistant pitching coordinator.
His extensive experience in coaching and player development has positioned him well for this new challenge with the Giants as they look to enhance their pitching performance moving forward.
