HENDERSON, Nev. — Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is anticipated to sit out his second consecutive game due to an ankle injury as the Las Vegas team prepares to face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
The Raiders will likely experience a shortage in their receiving corps once again. Star wideout Davante Adams has missed the last three games with a hamstring issue and was traded to the New York Jets this past Tuesday.
Meyers, who has made significant contributions to the team, currently ranks second in receptions with 25 catches for a total of 273 yards and one touchdown. Meanwhile, tight end Brock Bowers leads the team with 37 catches, accumulating 384 yards and one touchdown of his own.
Head Coach Antonio Pierce mentioned on Friday that the coaching staff needs to strategize on getting receiver Tre Tucker more involved in both the offensive plays and special teams. Tucker was targeted twice in the recent 32-13 defeat against the Pittsburgh Steelers but unfortunately did not secure any passes.
This season, Tucker has recorded 18 catches for 190 yards along with a touchdown. “We just didn’t get the touches to him,” Pierce admitted. “Shame on us, but hopefully that’s not the case this week.”
In other injury updates, Pierce confirmed that guard Dylan Parham would be sidelined due to a foot injury. However, right tackle Thayer Munford is set to return after missing the last three weeks because of knee and ankle issues. Rookie DJ Glaze has stepped up impressively in Munford’s absence.
Munford has demonstrated versatility by playing multiple positions on the offensive line. Pierce indicated that the coaching staff would spend Friday and Saturday evaluating who will take the starting roles on the line for the upcoming game.
