PITTSBURGH — In a remarkable achievement, Sidney Crosby, captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, has become the 10th player in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL) to amass 1,600 regular-season points throughout his career.
Crosby reached this milestone during a matchup against the Buffalo Sabres, where he provided a secondary assist on Bryan Rust’s power-play goal at 11:01 in the first period on Wednesday night.
At the age of 37, Crosby is the first player to accomplish this feat since Jaromir Jagr, who hit the 1,600-point mark on October 6, 2011. The skilled forward achieved this significant career milestone in just 1,277 games, placing him fifth on the list of players with the fewest games needed to reach 1,600 points.
With his career continuing, Crosby is now only eight goals away from achieving the 600-goal milestone. Additionally, he is 41 points away from tying Hall of Famer Joe Sakic for the ninth spot on the all-time points list in NHL history.
Crosby’s impressive career reflects both his skill and consistency, further solidifying his legacy as one of the greats in the sport. As he continues to climb the record books, fans and analysts alike will be closely watching his pursuit of these notable achievements.
