Oklahoma State’s Gundy sustains eye injury due to encounter with cattle

STILLWATER, Okla. — On Monday, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy revealed that he experienced a rather unfortunate incident with his cattle over the weekend, resulting in an eye injury. This injury was serious enough for him to conduct his regular media press conference via Zoom without showing his camera.

“I’ve got a bad eye that I didn’t think would be particularly enjoyable for people when they were looking at my pretty face in a live interview,” Gundy lightheartedly remarked. He went on to explain that his eye is filled with blood, causing dizziness, which makes it challenging for him to remain upright and function normally. He assured everyone, however, that aside from this issue, he is doing just fine.

The Cowboys currently have a record of 3-3 as they prepare to face the No. 13 ranked BYU this upcoming Friday night. Gundy noted that if he were a player, he would probably be listed as “probable” on the injury report.

“I’m fine, and it should get better every day,” he stated. “Hopefully, it’ll improve a bit more. But overall, I’m well. I’m putting in the same hours as always. It’s really not a big deal; I just thought it wouldn’t be very pleasant for viewers.”
