BALTIMORE — In an exciting matchup on Sunday, Lamar Jackson showcased his skills by throwing for 323 yards and a touchdown, leading the Baltimore Ravens to a 30-23 victory over the Washington Commanders. This win marks the Ravens’ fourth consecutive triumph, with Jackson outshining rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels in what was anticipated to be a thrilling contest between two of the NFL’s standout quarterbacks this season.

Jackson managed to find Mark Andrews for his tight end’s first touchdown of the season and was instrumental in connecting with Zay Flowers, completing nine passes to him for a total of 132 yards, all within the first half. Meanwhile, Derrick Henry contributed significantly to the Ravens’ offense by rushing for 132 yards and scoring two touchdowns, marking his NFL-leading eighth and ninth touchdowns. The Ravens (4-2) effectively balanced their passing and rushing game, demonstrating near-perfect execution throughout the match.

On the other side, Daniels did connect with Terry McLaurin for two touchdown passes but lacked adequate support from his rushing attack. With Brian Robinson Jr. sidelined due to a knee injury, the Commanders (4-2) could only muster 52 rushing yards, hampering their offensive efficiency in an encounter that pitted the two top rushing teams in the league against one another.

The Commanders’ defense faced challenges in containing both Jackson and Henry, ultimately giving up 484 total yards to the Ravens. Washington’s four-game winning streak was snapped as they faced a Baltimore team increasingly appearing like a genuine contender for the Super Bowl title they were expected to be at the start of the season. The Ravens’ scoring prowess was highlighted by long drives of 93 and 94 yards, alongside three sacks applied to Daniels throughout the game.

Despite an early interception by Jackson—resulting from a pass that deflected off Andrews and into the hands of rookie Mike Sainristil—Baltimore managed to overcome this setback with their offensive firepower. Daniels ended the game with 24 completions on 35 attempts for 269 yards, but once again, Baltimore’s offensive output proved sufficient to cover any defensive challenges faced.

Henry made history by becoming the first player since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2005 to score a rushing touchdown in each of his first six games. Additionally, Andrews matched Todd Heap’s record for the most receptions in team history, marking the 41st of his career.

In terms of injuries, the Ravens were without several players, including linebacker Malik Harrison (groin), cornerback Arthur Maulet (knee and hamstring), and defensive end Broderick Washington (knee). For the Commanders, defensive tackle Jonathan Allen was ruled out with a pectoral injury early in the fourth quarter, while defensive end Dorance Armstrong was forced to leave the game in the second due to a rib issue. Defensive end Clelin Ferrell missed the game entirely as he continues to recover from a knee injury that has sidelined him for a month.

Looking ahead, the Commanders will host the Carolina Panthers next Sunday, while the Ravens are set to visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday, October 21.
