RENO, Nev. — In an electrifying matchup on Saturday night, Savion Red showcased his explosive talent by scoring four touchdowns, while Kitan Crawford electrified the crowd with a 57-yard interception return for a touchdown. Quarterback Brendon Lewis also made his mark by dashing 67 yards for a touchdown as Nevada narrowly defeated Oregon State with a final score of 42-37.

Lewis completed 5 of his 12 passes, accumulating 51 yards, but it was his rushing performance that truly stood out, racking up 151 yards on nine carries. Red, on the other hand, contributed significantly with 23 carries for 137 yards, scoring on runs of 33 and 5 yards during the first half. His 7-yard touchdown run in the third quarter cut the deficit to 24-21, shifting momentum in Nevada’s favor.

The Wolfpack gained further momentum when Michael Coats Jr. intercepted a pass from Gevani McCoy. Shortly after, Red added to his impressive tally with a 6-yard touchdown run, giving Nevada a narrow 25-21 lead with just under 14 minutes left in the game. It’s worth noting Crawford’s pivotal interception return, which pushed the score to 35-24 just three minutes later.

Oregon State responded valiantly with Anthony Hankerson punching in a 1-yard touchdown run, though they failed on the subsequent 2-point conversion, leaving them trailing by five points at 35-30 with just under seven minutes left in the game. On a crucial play, Lewis executed a jet sweep on first-and-15 from the Beavers’ 33-yard line, sprinting through the middle for a touchdown that extended Nevada’s lead to 42-30 with four minutes remaining.

The Beavers, undeterred, answered back with a 3-yard touchdown pass from McCoy to Trent Walker, bringing the score within five points at 42-37 with 1:57 on the clock. However, following a three-and-out series from Nevada, Oregon State managed to advance the ball into Nevada territory, only to have Coats once again emerge as a hero by intercepting McCoy’s pass in the end zone as time expired.

For Oregon State, Hankerson had an impressive outing, carrying the ball 28 times for 154 yards and three touchdowns. McCoy’s performance included completing 27 of 42 passes for 348 yards, though he was hindered by four costly interceptions.
