Alcorn State secured a resounding 42-21 victory over Mississippi Valley State in their Southwestern Athletic Conference opener on Saturday night in Itta Bena, Mississippi. The Braves put on a dominant performance with key players stepping up to lead the way.

Jacorian Sewell shined on the field, rushing for an impressive 164 yards. His standout moment came with a remarkable 55-yard touchdown run, propelling the Braves to a 17-7 lead early in the second quarter. Alcorn State maintained a comfortable lead of at least two scores for the remainder of the game.

In addition to Sewell’s stellar performance, Edwin Summerour made a significant impact with three interceptions, showcasing the Braves’ defensive prowess. The team headed into halftime with a 24-14 lead and continued to extend their advantage with a safety and a field goal in the third quarter.
