Anna Sorokin, famously known for her alias Anna Delvey and her elaborate schemes that involved scamming banks, hotels, and friends, recently concluded her journey on the reality competition show “Dancing With the Stars.” Her participation on the show was met with controversy due to her criminal history, and she even had to wear an ankle monitor on stage, earning the title of the “notorious ankle bracelet fashionista.”
After being released from prison in February 2021, Sorokin faced immigration issues as authorities claimed she overstayed her visa and needed to be deported to Germany, her home country. She spent over a year in ICE custody until a judge allowed her to switch to home confinement in October 2022, as she continues to fight against deportation.
Sorokin’s performance to the song “Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall alongside her dance partner Ezra Sosa led to her elimination from the series. Contestants are voted off by viewers starting from the second week of the show. When asked by the hosts what she learned from the competition, Sorokin bluntly stated that she would take away “Nothing.”
In an interview with “Good Morning America,” Sorokin further expressed that her favorite part of the experience was being eliminated. Despite the challenges of dancing with an ankle monitor, Sorokin mentioned that it was not a significant issue as she had it customized to match her costumes and fit securely.
Not only Sorokin faced elimination during the episode, but also Tori Spelling, known for her role in “Beverly Hills, 90210,” exited the show with her partner Pasha Pashkov. Spelling reflected on her time on the show as a “crazy transformational journey,” sharing that she found solace in her children’s presence in the audience and expressed her love for them, regardless of the outcome on the show. She emphasized how scary the experience was but how grateful she was to have faced her fears.
As Sorokin and others face eliminations on the show, the future of Sorokin’s deportation case and the adjustments made to her house arrest conditions for filming in Los Angeles remain uncertain. The drama on and off the dance floor continues as the competition progresses.
