The San Francisco Giants dominated the Arizona Diamondbacks in an 11-0 victory on Tuesday night, marking their fifth consecutive win against playoff contenders. Michael Conforto and Brett Wisely both contributed three-run homers in a spectacular six-run third inning for the Giants. San Francisco has excelled in the role of a spoiler lately, boasting a 7-1 record against teams like Baltimore, Kansas City, and Arizona.
The Giants’ winning streak extended as they unleashed an offensive onslaught with five home runs against the Diamondbacks, including three off Brandon Pfaadt in the initial three innings. Patrick Bailey, Conforto, and Wisely each homered to propel San Francisco to a commanding 7-0 lead early in the game. Tyler Fitzgerald and Heliot Ramos also joined the home run parade with their contributions.
Starting pitcher Logan Webb delivered a solid performance, holding the Diamondbacks scoreless over six innings while allowing only four hits. On the other side, Pfaadt struggled on the mound, surrendering five runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings after a prior impressive outing.
With their third consecutive loss to the Giants, the Diamondbacks saw their lead over the New York Mets and Atlanta diminish to just a half-game for the final National League playoff spot. Despite a strong outing against Milwaukee in his last start, Pfaadt faltered against San Francisco, unable to contain the Giants’ potent lineup.
In terms of injuries, the Diamondbacks had catcher Gabriel Moreno return to the lineup after overcoming an oblique strain, while pitcher Ryne Nelson is set to return from the injured list following a two-week absence due to shoulder inflammation.
In the upcoming series finale, Giants’ right-hander Mason Black will face Diamondbacks’ right-hander Zac Gallen on Wednesday as San Francisco aims to continue its winning streak against playoff contenders.
