Josef Martínez scored in the first half, and Caden Clark added a goal in the second half to lead CF Montreal to a 2-0 victory over the Chicago Fire on Saturday night in Montreal. Martínez gave Montreal a 1-0 advantage in the 21st minute, assisted by Nathan Saliba. This was Martínez’s sixth goal of the season.
Clark secured Montreal’s win with a goal in the 74th minute, his second goal in five appearances since joining the team from Minnesota United. Kwadwo Opoku and Samuel Piette provided the assists on Clark’s goal.
Goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois recorded four saves to earn his sixth clean sheet of the season for Montreal. Chicago’s goalkeeper, Chris Brady, made one save in the match.
The Fire, with a record of 7-16-8, will return home to face Toronto FC in their next match. Montreal, with a record of 8-12-10, will host the San Jose Earthquakes in their upcoming game.
