In Annapolis, Maryland, Navy’s Blake Horvath had an outstanding performance in their 56-44 victory over Memphis. Horvath rushed for 211 yards and scored four touchdowns, in addition to throwing two touchdown passes. Rayuan Lane III also contributed with an 86-yard interception return for a touchdown in the closing moments of the game, securing Navy’s win and handing Memphis their first loss in the American Athletic Conference opener on Saturday.

Memphis took an early lead with Mario Anderson Jr. scoring a touchdown on their opening drive. However, Navy responded with Horvath’s 5-yard touchdown run to even the score. The game was competitive with both teams exchanging touchdowns, but it was Navy’s strong offensive performance that ultimately secured their victory.

Horvath’s connection with his teammates was crucial, including a 39-yard touchdown pass to Eli Heidenreich and a 37-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Chatman. Horvath completed 9 of 12 passes for 192 yards and showcased his running ability with 211 yards on just 12 carries.

Memphis fought hard, with Seth Henigan totaling 371 passing yards and throwing three touchdown passes. Despite their efforts, Navy’s strong offensive showing proved to be too much for Memphis to overcome.

In the end, Navy’s balanced attack of passing and rushing led them to a well-deserved victory, maintaining their unbeaten record. The game was a thrilling showcase of talent from both teams, but it was Navy who emerged victorious in the end.
