In Riverside, California, three members of a foster family have admitted to mistreating children, some of whom were previously subjected to severe abuse by their birth parents in Southern California. Marcelino Olguin pleaded guilty to various charges, including lewd acts on a child, false imprisonment, and causing harm to a child. His lawyer, Paul Grech, mentioned that Olguin made these pleas in Superior Court in Riverside to bring closure to his family. Olguin’s wife, Rosa, and daughter, Lennys, also pleaded guilty to charges of child cruelty, false imprisonment, and other offenses. Their sentencing is set for October 18.
Reports indicate that the Olguin family compelled the children under their care to consume their own vomit and endure extended periods of isolation. Notably, among the children under their supervision were six siblings from the Turpin family. These Turpin children had been rescued from horrific abuse in their parents’ residence.
The Turpin parents, David and Louise Turpin, admitted guilt in 2019 to charges of torture and prolonged abuse. Their mistreatment involved chaining some of their 13 children and denying them food. The Turpin couple’s arrest followed a daring escape by one of their 17-year-old daughters, who fled their home in Perris, located about 60 miles southeast of Los Angeles, and contacted emergency services.
