Laura Loomer, a right-wing activist known for controversial statements, recently joined former President Donald Trump in New York and Pennsylvania to commemorate the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Loomer, who has previously suggested that 9/11 was an inside job, posted photos and videos of Trump’s visit to ground zero and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where one of the planes crashed after passengers fought back against hijackers.
In a text message, Loomer clarified that she was not working for the Trump campaign but was invited as a guest. Despite questions about her past statements regarding 9/11, she did not address them. The Trump campaign did not comment on Loomer’s participation in the event.
Loomer has been seen with Trump on various occasions, including accompanying him on his plane to Philadelphia for a debate. Trump has a history of associating with individuals who promote conspiracy theories and false information, including those involved in QAnon.
Loomer is known for making anti-Islam and anti-immigrant posts on social media, as well as launching racist and sexist attacks against Vice President Kamala Harris. Her past claim that 9/11 was an inside job was debunked, as it misrepresented facts about then-Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld’s remarks.
Despite some of Trump’s allies expressing concerns about Loomer’s extremist views, Trump has continued to welcome her as a presence in his political circle. Loomer, who previously ran for Congress in Florida but was unsuccessful, aligns herself with the more extreme elements of the Republican Party and has been a vocal supporter of Trump’s agenda.
