In Arlington, Texas, the New York Liberty triumphed over the Dallas Wings with a convincing 105-91 victory on Tuesday night. Breanna Stewart led the way with 27 points, while Sabrina Ionescu contributed 14 points and dished out 11 assists, part of New York’s season-high 33 assists.
New York now holds a 30-6 record, making them the first team this season to achieve 30 wins, with four regular-season games remaining. They currently maintain a three-game lead over the second-place Minnesota Lynx, who have a 27-9 record.
The Liberty showcased their shooting prowess by hitting 55% of their shots from the field, including an impressive 16 of 29 from beyond the arc. Ionescu drilled four 3-pointers, while Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and Leonie Fiebich each contributed three triples.
Stewart had a standout first quarter, scoring 15 points with three 3-pointers, while Dallas struggled to score, managing only 18 points in the same period. Fiebich extended New York’s lead with the team’s eighth 3-pointer early in the second quarter.
At halftime, the Liberty held a comfortable 58-43 advantage with Stewart leading the charge with 19 points. Although Dallas narrowed the gap to 72-64 in the third quarter, New York responded with a 15-5 run to regain control at 87-69.
In addition to Stewart’s performance, Jones added 19 points, and Fiebich contributed 16 off the bench. For Dallas, Arike Ogunbowale led with 23 points, followed by Natasha Howard with 21 points.
The two teams are set to face each other again on Thursday in their upcoming matchup.
