Karolina Muchova has once again secured a spot in the U.S. Open semifinals, marking the second consecutive year she has reached this stage of the tournament. Her victory over No. 22 Beatriz Haddad Maia with a score of 6-1, 6-4 on Wednesday showcased her successful comeback from wrist surgery.
Last year, Muchova faced eventual champion Coco Gauff in the 2023 U.S. Open semis but had to take a break from the game after sustaining a wrist injury during the competition, causing her to be absent from play for nearly 10 months. Despite these challenges, the Czech player made a triumphant return to the courts in June, just before Wimbledon. Now, a little over two months later, Muchova finds herself in her fourth career Grand Slam semifinal.
