Victor Osimhen has signed a loan deal with Galatasaray, ending his time at Napoli. The loan will run until the end of the season, and Osimhen has extended his contract with Napoli until 2026-27. Osimhen expressed his excitement about the move on Instagram, donning a Galatasaray shirt at his new stadium.
Although Osimhen was linked to clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Al-Ahli, the European transfer window passed without a deal. The Turkish league transfer window closes on Sept. 13, and Galatasaray sought Osimhen’s services due to an injury to Mauro Icardi.
Upon Osimhen’s arrival in Istanbul, fans greeted him enthusiastically, highlighting the anticipation surrounding his move to Galatasaray. Osimhen, who played a key role in Napoli’s 2023 Serie A victory with 26 goals, has faced recurring injury setbacks throughout his career.
Having not trained with Napoli, Osimhen was replaced by Romelu Lukaku following his move to Chelsea. Osimhen, aged 25, is renowned for his aerial ability and unique face mask, having scored 76 goals in 133 matches for Napoli since his record-breaking transfer four years ago.
Osimhen grew discontented with Napoli’s performance last season, where they finished 10th in the league. Joining Galatasaray will reunite Osimhen with Dries Mertens, Napoli’s all-time leading goal scorer.
