NFL Implements Restrictions on Tom Brady’s Broadcasting Opportunities Due to Potential Ownership Stake in Raiders

Tom Brady’s potential acquisition of a stake in the Las Vegas Raiders has led to certain restrictions being imposed on his interactions with NFL teams in his capacity as a Fox Sports broadcaster, according to a league official on Thursday. Brady is prohibited from participating in broadcast production meetings, either in-person or online, and is restricted from accessing team facilities, players, or coaches. These limitations do not apply to the Fox Sports staff.
In addition to these restrictions, Brady must adhere to the NFL’s constitution and bylaws that forbid public criticism of officials and other teams. However, he is allowed to continue broadcasting Raiders games.
Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion, is currently working alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt on Fox’s primary NFL broadcasting team. Although he inked a 10-year contract with the network in 2022, this marks his inaugural season as a game announcer.
Brady’s pursuit of a minority ownership stake in the Raiders has been under close examination by league owners since he submitted his bid in May 2023. During a meeting in Orlando, Florida, in March, owners refrained from voting on the issue due to concerns that Brady was receiving an overly substantial discount from the Raiders’ principal owner, Mark Davis. Notably, Brady already possesses a share of the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, a team also owned by Davis.
