Spencer Torkelson and Kerry Carpenter help Tigers secure 6th consecutive victory with 3-2 triumph against the Angels

The Detroit Tigers secured their sixth consecutive win by defeating the Los Angeles Angels 3-2 on Wednesday night. Spencer Torkelson’s two-run home run in the 2nd inning and Kerry Carpenter’s RBI single in the 3rd inning contributed to the Tigers’ victory. The game faced a rain delay of 1 hour and 50 minutes, resulting in a late start at 8:30 p.m.
This win pushed the Tigers’ record to 68-66, marking the first time they have been two games over .500 since May 7. On the other hand, the Angels suffered their fifth consecutive loss and have now lost 13 of their last 15 games.
Mason Englert made his first major league appearance since June 24 as the Tigers’ opener, pitching two scoreless innings before Kenta Maeda took over. Maeda (3-6) allowed two unearned runs in 4 1/3 innings. Beau Brieske and Jason Foley also contributed to the Tigers’ pitching success.
The Angels’ Griffin Canning (4-12) received the loss after giving up three runs in five innings. Canning has a 1-5 record in his last 10 outings. Torkelson’s home run and Carpenter’s RBI single were key moments in the game for the Tigers.
Mickey Moniak’s home run in the sixth inning brought the Angels within one run, but it was not enough to overcome the Tigers. The teams will wrap up their series on Thursday with RHP Jack Kochanowicz facing Detroit’s RHP Keider Montero.
