A shooting incident occurred near a festival in Boston, resulting in five individuals sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. The incident took place at Franklin Park during the conclusion of a Dominican festival. The injured included three men and two women, whose identities and ages were not disclosed. They were promptly taken to a hospital for treatment.
Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox condemned the violent act, emphasizing the urgency of holding accountable those responsible for endangering the community. Cox expressed shock at individuals firing into a crowd as the festival was concluding and law enforcement officers were assisting attendees in exiting the park. As of Monday, the police had not provided updates on the case, including the possible involvement of multiple shooters.
Cox lamented how the shooting tarnished an otherwise successful event, stressing the importance of community assistance in the investigation. Despite the recent surge, Boston has been commended for effectively reducing violent crime. While 37 homicides were recorded last year, the figure has considerably dropped to 10 this year, according to police reports.
