Sparks lose their fifth consecutive home game as Sky makes fourth-quarter comeback for 90-86 win

Lindsay Allen scored 16 points, while Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese recorded double-doubles as the Chicago Sky overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the Los Angeles Sparks 90-86 on Saturday, dealing the Sparks their fifth consecutive home loss.

Chicago (11-15) was trailing 74-64 at the start of the final period but managed to turn the game around with a strong comeback. A turnaround jumper by Allen and a 3-pointer by Rachel Banham quickly cut the deficit, and Chicago scored the first seven points of the quarter. This rally gave the Sky a narrow lead of 77-76 with 6:35 left to play.

Stephanie Talbot’s 3-pointer tied the game at 79, but Reese’s free throw put Chicago back in the lead for good. Allen, who shot 7 of 11 from the field, had a solid performance with 16 points and six assists. Cardoso contributed 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Reese added 14 points and 11 boards. Banham made three 3-pointers and scored 14 points.

For the Sparks (6-20), Kia Nurse led with 16 points, while Rickea Jackson and Talbot each added 13 points. Crystal Dangerfield had 11 points and six assists, and Azurá Stevens contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

The game saw lead changes, with the Sparks taking their first lead at 20-18 in the first quarter, but Chicago quickly responded to take a 26-25 lead after the first period. The Sparks held a 46-42 lead at halftime, but Chicago fought back in the second half, eventually securing a vital victory.

Chicago will face the Phoenix Mercury next, while the Los Angeles Sparks will play against the Las Vegas Aces in their upcoming games.
